Just Hungry

justhungry-logo2015_sm300

This is a well-established Japanese food blog that has been in existence since 2003. It’s become extremely popular and has received mentions from numerous media outlets including The Guardian and Gourmet Magazine. Written by amateur chef, Makiko Itoh, Just Hungry offers a great example of how a personal blog can go viral when the content is useful, snappy and informative. The subject is authentic Japanese cuisine and the blog features an absolutely enormous list of recipes. Posts tend to focus on the author’s vibrant new creations and there’s plenty of history about the origins of certain dishes. Interestingly, the author sometimes incorporates Western ingredients into her recipes: check out the Hambaagu post – Japan’s take on one of the most popular foreign snacks.
